As a brief example a private investigator can legally provide services that are in the public realm, such as:
•Surveillance, as long as the subject of the surveillance is in location where there is no expectation of privacy (public place).
•Conducting witness Interviews,
•Research stemming from public accessible data bases,
•Forensic Services (as long as a client has legal authority).
A private investigator has the same authority in law as any citizen, no greater, no less.
